Half-day tours

Tour 1 – Half-day Cultural Tour (AM or PM) (please call baht for 1 person / please call baht per person for 2-3 people)
Half-day tour of Chiang Rai downtown area. In the age of globalization, the shopping habits of people all over the world have become homogenized. Fortunately, not everything has been changed. The local market provides a unique experience you wont find in the modern malls and superstores. Proceed to the King Meng Rai monument and Rai Mae Fah Luang park.
Tour 2 – Half-day Hilltribe Study Tour (AM or PM) (please call baht for 1 person / please call baht per person for 2-3 people)
Visit hilltribe villages by car. One this trip, you will have an opportunity to visit a Lahu and Akha village. This includes a visit to a local museum at the Lahu village.

Sightseeing Tours

Tour 3 – Doi Tung, Mae Sai, Golden Triangle (Sop Ruak), & Chiang Saen Tour (please call baht for 1 person / please call baht per person for 2-3 people)
Full-day excursion to the Black House (by the National Artist Tawan Duchanee), Doi Tung  factories or the Doi Tung Royal garden and Palace, Mae Sai, Golden Triangle and Chiang Saen ancient city. Options for crossing into Myanmar, boat trip to Laos and visit to Hall of opium in not included in our tour price.
Tour 4 – Chiang Rai Scenery Tour (please call baht for 1 person / please call baht per person for 2-3 people)
Visit a community-based tourism project at an Akha village, Mae Salong, Mae Sai and the Golden Triangle. Recommended for people short on time but wants to see what Chiang Rai has to offer. We recommend an early start as this is a very long program.
Tour 5 – One – day Chiang Khong and Golden Triangle Tour (please call baht for 1 person / please call baht per person for 2-3 people)
We trace the Mekong River starting with a short visit to the Black house of the National Artist Tawan Duchanee. Proceed to the Doi Tung factories to observe handweaving activities and hand paper making. The we head toward Sop Ruak where you will have lunch. You have options for crossing into Laos or visiting the Hall of Opium (Closed on Mondays). Fees for Crossing to Laos or entering the Hall of Opium is NOT included in our fee. Then visit the Ancient City of Chiang Saen before heading towards Chiang Khong (a gateway to Laos). Return to Chiang Rai.
Tour 6 –  One-day Chiang Saen (Ancient City), Golden Triangle & Mae Sai (please call baht for 1 person / please call baht per person for 2-3 people)
Visit the Black House of the National Artist Tawan Duchanee. Proceed to the Doi Tung Factory (Handweaving and paper making). Proceed to Mae Sai (option for crossing to Tachilek/Union of Myanmar – additional 500 Baht per person). Lunch at Sop Ruak along the Mekong River. Option for Hall of Opium or crossing by boat to Laos NOT included in our fee. Proceed to Ancient City of Chiang Saen. Last stop at a local weaving center near Mae Chan.
Tour 7 –  Mae Salong and Tribes (please call baht for 1 person / please call baht per person for 2-3 people)
Visit the Black House of National Artist Tawan Duchanee. Proceed to a community-based tourism project at a Akha village, Mae Salong (a former Koumintang base) now a tea producing area. This town was once an opium production base. Visit a Museum dedicated to a Koumintang General at Mae Salong. Visit tea factories (may be closed on Sundays).
Tour 8 –  Hills of Chiang Rai (please call baht for 1 person / please call baht per person for 2-3 people)
Visit a community-based tourism project at an Akha village, Mae Salong (a former Koumintang base) now a tea producing area. This town was once an opium production base. Visit a Museum dedicated to a Koumintang General at Mae Salong. Visit tea factories (may be closed on Sundays). Proceed to the Doi Tung factories and the Royal Garden and Villa.
Tour 9 –  Ban Lorcha, Thaton & Kok River (please call baht for 1 person / please call baht per person for 2-3 people)
Visit the Black House of National Artist Tawan Duchanee. Proceed to a community-based tourism project at a Akha village. Next stop is Thaton town in the province of Chiang Mai. Ride a long-tail boat back to Chiang Rai with a stop at an elephant village.

Trekking Tours

Tour 10 –  1-day Elephant Safari & Trek (please call baht for 1 person / please call baht per person for 2-3 people)
This is a combination program consisting of a 1-hour long-tail boat ride, a 1.5 – hour  and a 1-hour downhill trek to a waterfall. Visit a local museum and ride a local taxi back to Chiang Rai with a stop at an Akha village.
Tour 11 –  2-day Elephant Safari & Trek (please call baht for 1 person / please call baht per person for 2-3 people)
This is similar to Tour 10 but with a more substantial trek. We stay overnight at an Akha village.
Tour 12 – 3-day Elephant Safari & Trek (please call baht for 1 person / please call baht per person for 2-3 people)
This is similar to Tour 10 but with a more substantial trek. We stay overnight at a Lahu and an Akha village.***Tour No.12 (temporarily halted sales) Because the hiking distance is too long and time consuming. via PDA Chiang Rai Tour In the process of exploring a new route, so I apologize for coming here.
   

Note:

  • We do not conduct trips to Long Neck Karen or Padaung Villages because we feel that they are being exploited. Other tour operators may take you there if you want.
  • Minimum of 2 persons

Tours with this star are popular tours. If you are traveling by yourself, you have a better chance of finding other people joining you on your trip on these tours. March to May is the low season.
